PULSE started in a physical therapy clinic. Our founder Theo was a part-time PT and full-time marathon runner who kept watching the same scene play out: a client lifts a $400 percussion gun out of a gym bag, struggles to use the bulky 3-pound thing, and gives up halfway through. The technology was great. The form factor was an obstacle.
He started prototyping a mini gun in 2023 — one that could actually fit in a backpack, run quietly enough to use anywhere, and still hit a useful 12mm amplitude. After six rounds of motor testing and a lot of athletes giving feedback, PULSE shipped its first unit in early 2024.
Recovery shouldn't be a luxury you can only access at home. The best tool is the one you'll actually use, and the best time to use a massage gun is right after the workout, on the airplane, between meetings — not three hours later when you're finally in your kitchen.
We worked with a brushless motor manufacturer to engineer a 35W motor that delivers usable stall force in a body small enough to fit in a backpack pocket. The vibration damping cuts noise to under 45dB. The attachments are CNC-finished aluminum, not the soft rubber knockoffs you see in the $40 Amazon clones.
We tested with runners, lifters, PTs, and a couple of NHL strength coaches. Their feedback shaped every revision.
12,500+ customers, a 4.9-star average, and a growing list of independent PT clinics that stock PULSE in their travel kits and recommend it to clients. We ship from Portland, answer support emails ourselves, and read every review. Welcome.
